Airports are one of the most interesting places to people watch. To my right, there’s a man clipping his fingernails on top of a trashcan. Hotel music is lightly playing in the background to lighten the mood of a dreary Sunday morning. People are marching towards their boarding gates with hurried expressions on their faces. And directly in front of me is a long line of hungry travelers snaking in front of a café called the “Homeboy Bakery”. Enthralled with the pastries glowing in their glass cases, I caved in to my hunger and decided to buy an overpriced mediocre tasting chocolate croissant. While munching on this croissant I noticed that the flow of people rushing through the airport has finally slowed down and this makes me feel slightly drowsy again.
Right now I feel like I’m in a trance-like, dream world state of mind. Since my flight was scheduled to leave Denver at 6:45am, I thought it was a good idea to stay up all night so that I could sleep all the way from DIA to LA. Funnily enough it worked! I passed out before the airplane took off and I woke up ten minutes before we landed. It felt like the shortest plane ride that I had ever been on. Then I groggily stumbled through the LA maze of an airport until I found my boarding gate.…
found out that my flight from LA to Japan unfortunately got delayed!!
Apparently there is a huge windstorm in Tokyo right now. So instead of a two-hour wait until boarding, I now have to wait four hours. Somehow the fact that there is a windstorm raging through the city of Tokyo is more amusing than worrying to me. I know, I know, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of a weirdo. But now come to think of it, I seriously hope that I can make it to my connecting flight to Shanghai on time.…..
On a lighter note, I just wanted to say that I am going to miss the wonderful people that I had the privilege of hanging out with this quarter!! You definitely made living in Nagel a pleasure. Ahh my dear friends at DU, I couldn’t wish for friends that are as kind and caring as you guys are. And since The Head and the Heart sums up what I’m feeling, I have no choice but to share their wise words with you.
A year from now we’ll all be gone
All our friends will move away
And they’re going to better places
But our friends will be gone away
Nothing is as it has been
And I miss your face like hell
